My name is Desie. My dedication and practice of yoga here in Canberra during the last 17 years has helped me gain flexability and strength and through meditation and breathing practice I've also learned to settle and relax my mind.  I find this holistic approach to life has improved the relationship between my body, mind and spirit.  A feeling of calm, a sense of stabilty and harmony that is continually enhanced by the use of many yoga practices in my everyday life.

In 2005  I completed a 4 year Dru yoga diploma course directed by the founder Dr Mansukh Patel. A restorative type of yoga with  emphasis on a soft, gentle approach to physical movement, the use of mudras, visualizations and affirmations.   I am also a Samyama Yoga graduate directed by the founder Bill Giles.  In this course I learnt a stronger approach to Hatha yoga and an extensive study  of Raja yoga. This course also included the study of Patanjalis Sutra written by Patanjali and The Hatha Yoga Pradipika written by Yoga Swami Svatmarama. Included also was knowledge about meridians and yoga, food and its relation to health and more. I have taught people of all ages both privately and at various health clubs here in Canberra.

I love teaching yoga and over the many years of teaching I'm inspired by the  progress I see in all my students. Over time students build confidence and are ready to take on new challenges. They improve in mobiity, strength, coordination, they learn to relax and breath properly and are more intune and mindful of their bodys needs for better health. 

My aim is that students leave my class refreshed, rested and energized and feeling excited to come back for more. My approach is "its never too late for improvement."  Drawing upon the many years of training, my focus is to create interesting, ecclectic and enjoyable classes.
